A new fear of Magic...

I am trying to write a short story with magic in it. Unfortunately, some people still get touchy about using the word “witch” in a story. There is an old world Bible quote stating “thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” and it generates oceans of controversy. Does witch really mean poisoners in the Bible? Christians used to fight witches, and burn them. Yet they are such a tempting device for writing. Everyone knows witches, powers, and witch magic battles. It also means they can do anything, which makes a beauty of a frame tale for a story that can go anywhere. Yet I don’t know if I can really call them “witches”, or “wizards”, or if “magic user” works just as well. I will write more, and see how the story sorts itself out. God and magic make it hard to format stories, even in modern day.
