Coffin Bank Comic 27 Black Camera and Ruby Stone

This week’s comic is called “Coffin Bank” for the content of the two main jokes. Returning to Halloween themes was the driving force of this week’s drawings. Swirls of ghost ectoplasm decorate the first panel next to the raven. A ghost is described by a black wolf, and the ghost says “coffin-cof.” For the last panel a black wolf describes a small bank with dollar signs is spurting blood. It is a very vivid metaphor group.

Image of the day Luck Owl Swirls 56
This week for Tuesday I have posted a painting of a luck owl. This is a re-sketch and repaint of a Feng Shui decorative owl said to bring good luck to the home. It is part of a large Feng Shui themed painting I started in 2011. I did this one a while back, and need to recycle some older art for a while. This week Photoshop Elements and my scanner’s drivers crashed my computer. I therefore need to take a drawing comics break to fix computer issues. I had just gotten a new computer, and I thought it was all going to transfer over smoothly from the old to the new system. It did not do this transfer. I think I will fix up one of my old computers to use Photoshop and photo scanners, and will just transfer the photos back and forth to my Internet computer using a thumb drive. You can have a graphics computer or a net computer, but not both without blowing major cash. I was posting comics Tuesday and Friday, but may need to push it back to just Tuesday until the computer issues are solved.

Wash Wolf Comic 21 Black Camera and Ruby Stone
There was in fact a huge gap between comic 20 of Black Camera and Ruby Stone, and this comic 21. I did not realize how big until I looked at the art papers right now. Wow! December 06, 2013 was the last comic, and now it is the end of 2014. Almost a three month gap, and that is not great for a “regular schedule” update for a comic. However, I did not just “forget” to post, and I hated not posting my ideas. I had epic legal battles that forced me to stop. Yet they are over, and my ability to post has returned. The Tuesday and Friday updates for the Frozen History Seven Publishing’s latest and greatest underground web-comic will be resuming in the next couple of weeks. The Ruby Stone story line is like Casper the Friendly Ghost, mixed with a Ren and Stimpy’s surreal charm, and how can a comic lose? See them say strange joke puns, and go on adventures! Adventures that are collected together into books every few months, and put on sale! There is a revolution on the Internet overflowing with many forms of comics. Wow, comics sure fill up an e-book page fast. It is part of their amazing Internet publishing popularity. Bored people on the Internet will buy pretty much anything with their credit cards so it is better to have too many book purchase links up, and not too few.

My Technorati rating this week is 27,632 in 3 million entertainment blogs. I am climbing Blog popularity ranks with this comic as a hobby. I was originally at about level 45,000, and am up over ten thousand rank levels this year.

Updates to this cartoon strip are now on Tuesdays and Fridays. Updates are available on the homepage, yet new comics are achieved at DeviantArt. Many of the archive services I have tried have deleted or gone bad with links. Yet DeviantArt seems to be standing the test of time with improvement, and not bad change. The sub-archives are listed below. Spare points for my DeviantArt account come from my PoeDaughter7 account at Stuffpoints. Stuffpoints is a media marketing page linked to Virool videos that really does pay out real game points, money gift cards, and Paypal dollar rewards. It’s a rare Internet treat when that sort of thing turns out real. I like Virool videos so much I may run an ad for my comic there someday because it only costs ten dollars to nationally syndicate an advertisement on Youtube. A great idea for future fledgling small businesses.

Underground-WebToons - This is my new group on DeviantArt. This group is dedicated to the Underground Stylized Art of the web-comic world. It is also for the underdogs of the web-comics, this group promises not to be snobby with the folder requirements of Comics and Comic Strips.
Requirements: Play nice! Submission can be to folders, but using auto submits to featured is also okay. Try not to use video game stills or video game content that is quickly altered with print screen as an excuse for art. Please limit submits to one per day. This comic is being posted on Thursday, and not posted on Tuesday. A special Halloween bonus dead-mummy joke for the height of the Night of the Undead, All Hallows Eve and November 1st famous as the Day of the Dead… After this I plan to start posting a gag, story, gag format again. The gag-pun jokes are meant to lighten up my short stories, and not to fully replace them entirely. Yet this Halloween has been filled with melodrama, and I needed an easy to post format for a while.

This week’s gag cartoons continue. I decided to draw only the heads of skeletons in this one so that I could draw more pumpkins in the background. It was harder to think of pumpkin puns, so I had to draw both skeletons and pumpkins. It is a bit of Halloween joke multitasking there. I was re-watching the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, so the skulls look a bit grim like in this one. Oh well, I wasn’t aiming at a style copy, but sometimes that sort of thing creeps in when I draw.

I am no longer finishing a new comic book of comics and cartoons mixed with short stories and poems for Halloween. I am therefore just doing Halloween jokes, and no story comics for Halloween. I plan to draft a new one this year, but not by the Halloween. There have been a million family emergencies I had not anticipated, and so I have had less time for creative writing this year than last year. It has limited my time for book drafts. Too bad the deadline got blown. There are many parties and concerts that I am going to this Halloween, and so handing out advertisements for a new book would have been really easy at this time of year. That was not to be!

That is why I promoted Halloween on Kickstarter as a deadline. Kickstarter cash could have really helped me keep that deadline. It is obvious spoiled rich kids and retirees use their trust funds and 401ks to make fake accounts on Kickstarter to look like “fans” and donate to themselves. There is no room for real creative projects on there that are not just recycling and flaunting their rich daddy’s money they already had before “asking” for “donations”. Minus a HUGE Amazon fee for a so-called “NONPROFIT”, art loving, and “donation” driven site. Oh well, it was fun to try a new advertisement gimmick, and I think I will try Indieagogo at some point. Yet I now know to be weary for the “donation” pyramid scam with a new paint job when I see it.

Sometimes spam wears a cleaver paint job.
It is hard to stay inspired to do anything fun when it seems people use art as a way to bleed you dry for cash in new ways everyday. The con artists who claim to be “art promoters” yet create many more money pits for no real profit really get me down some days. I will keep posting my comics and other art projects as a hobby because I like them, and most of the time my hobbies get good response. However, in the end the only real way we profit from things is to feel emotionally gratified that we did what we needed and wanted to do.

Post 7: Sept. 19, 2013 Dancing in the Light Comic 9 Black Camera and Ruby Stone

It’s that time again --- past midnight after Monday means Tuesday updates for FH7 Publishing’s latest illustrated fiction book --- Black Camera and Ruby Stone! The images are then mixed with short stories and poems to make books every three months.

Recently I ran across an old medieval drawing of witches dancing around a cauldron on a fire. It struck me that the cauldron looked a great deal like a disco ball. It was interesting to me in a sort of a way. “The more things change, the more things stay the same.” People in the old world, and people of today loved to be Dancing in the Light. So I drew the cartoon about it.

Unfortunately this weeks “Web-Comic Wednesday” and Tuesday comic update are extremely late. They are on Thursday/Friday instead of Tuesday/Wednesday due to doctors appointments. I have an old back injury, and some birth-defect health problems that demand frequent doctor visits. No matter how much a write a “cushion” of postings, I sometimes just can’t get to the computer to post it. I know, I know, I deduct points on my comic reviews if a comic does that, and here I am doing it! Yet there is an old saying by John Lennon “Life is what happens when you are making other plans” meaning sometimes life just does not go as planned. A perfect syndicated cartoon like Garfield does not miss a post. However, this is a blog comic, and is not a huge syndicated newspaper cartoon with a large staff people all working on postings. The downside is some of my posts are late. The upside is that I could put controversial crap in here that you would NEVER see in Garfield. I could draw a dog on fire if I wanted to do a dead dog. In fact, my last comic had two dead dog road kill BBQ jokes. Take THAT Garfield! (They are in my comic archive last 30 at FH7publishing.com) Oh well, it will average out in time.

Post 4: August 27, 2013 Suck Grape Comic 3 Black Camera and Ruby Stone

It’s that time again --- past midnight after Monday means Tuesday updates for FH7 Publishing’s latest illustrated fiction book --- Black Camera and Ruby Stone! The images are then mixed with short stories and poems to make books every three months.

This week I learned why Dr. Seuss always had so many great physics defying plants as the background of his books. Really weird plants are fun to draw! Actually, according to the plot of this book ghosts are making tentacles of black ectoplasm happen all over the background. I guess it can be a hybrid of both, and the reader can imagine what they want it to be. Also, the characters have power force fields too, so this gives me license to draw wavy lines as the entire background of comics. No need to draw detailed light and shadow when I forget a drawing deadline! This comic also firmly establishes the new Black Camera and Ruby Stone series pattern of pun-comic, plot comic, pun-comic alternation. This helps the series stand alone as an online comedy comic, but mix into book plot when placed in books. It was a calculated format change from my last set of book illustrations.
