Funny Facebook Moment of the Week.

I am back to being active after my surgery. I went in for surgery on back pain Thursday. Nothing too bad went wrong. The bad pain has let up a bit since I had the work done. Now that it is over, I can laugh about it. Yet something about being knocked out, and not in control of your life is really spooky on a primal level.

This month marks the one year anniversary of my move to Richmond, and all sorts of melodrama is happening.

Andrea E. Menzies In the 80s my brother only had to pay 400 dollars for a full year of full time community college classes. Now it is 600 dollars per ONE CLASS to go to night school at community college. Not ALL types of people can get student loans, and student loans can default.

Andrea E. Menzies “The essential act of war is destruction, not necessarily of human lives, but of the products of human labour. War is a way of shattering to pieces, or pouring into the stratosphere, or sinking in the depths of the sea, materials which might otherwise be used to make the masses too comfortable, and hence, in the long run, too intelligent.”

More on the death toll.

Suicide is what my ex-step brother’s kid committed last week. Everyone thinks depression is a joke or a plea for attention until real death happens. There is so much social stigma in modern day to “seeking therapy” and admitting to depression. Yet something worse can happen, and it is real death. The kid had issues with not getting a job in a really bad recession. A generation of Republican sending jobs overseas has now taken a toll; a death toll.

Funny Facebook moment of the week.

The sun is out, and I am back to being active.

I passed the background check for a job today. Sometimes job hunting can be hard work by itself.

Fun at first, but now I am sick of snow. #snowpocalypse

This is my first big-snow in since my move to Virginia. Alexandria Menzies and I can hardly make snowmen fast enough. ‪#‎snowpocalypse‬.

Snow in the Richmond/DC area keeps being epic. Ice was this long last night, arm size by morning.

Andrea E. Menzies At first I was like “Oh wow snow!” now I am like “Oh man I am so sick of snow.” My driveway is a big chunk of ice, and I can not even get to 7-11 for chips.

Doing my last packing before I hit The Road. I am looking forward to three days of travel. Hotels and eating dinner out are always good things… Let’s face it they are fun. However, I am also looking forward to the fresh-start of a new town when I get to Virginia. In a new town you are a new person. When you stay in an old town too long, the people there start to think of you as a weak little cartoon character who never changes. Garfeild HAS to have too much food, Charlie Brown will never be able to kick the football, and Hagar HAS to be horrible. What if you are MORE than the cartoon they have made of you? In a new town your lines are still un-drawn.

Packing bubble wrap as I leave Texas for Virginia. The moving truck took the boxes today. Ahhh the pop-y goodness as the bubbles pop. It is soothing after last night’s packing frenzy. No matter how long the “moving truck” date sits on the calendar, it is still somehow a surprise when the realization hits that the truck is going to be here “In a couple of hours!” and “Accck how could I have packed so few boxes” hits your brain like a sledge hammer. With much sweat at broken finger-nails packing was done. The truck service took the boxes, but I still do not feel re-assured that the boxes will get there. Moving services are far easier compared to packing yourself. Yet they could be playing hockey with my boxes right now for all I know! The boxes are gone. I however am staying here until the end of the month to clean things up. Hard to believe “someday” is becoming “now” on this level.
