Adventures in webpage trials, a service review.

Google says it offers "custom Google mail" with Google Apps. All the features of a custom webpage, with Google built in sounds too good to be true. It is too good to be true! It does no such thing, unfortunately. The one bright spot, working a bit with GoDaddy pages. I have had to deal with a lot of sickness and injury issues right now. The idea of a fun custom email updates and custom webpage updates as a hobby was the one thing taking my mind off of the pain. Google did not give me a custom page ever, wasted my time, and was a money pit all the way around and was a horrible service. Hope I save some other people and keep them away from the time and energy pit nightmare that is Google apps. They have no good features, lacked the features of even the Google free mail, and are horrible to users. It just booted me out of my email account, with email still in it.

Google apps has been horrible. None of the features the advertisement said would be on the custom page are on the log in center, it would not make a custom web page, lost most of my test mail, and they keep trying to demand money. It said it would keep my page and email active if I did not want to upgrade to apps. It cut all of it off today, not just the apps! No warning that it would lock me out of email. I hate you very badly and will not continue being a customer. I will tell everyone I know not to use your pathetic apps in my blog right now, and post it with many tags. Now I have to switch my links on domain names everywhere again, thanks for wasting my time on a bad service.

Now I am going to have to start ANOTHER page! Is there any webpage service that is NOT a rip off on the net? I am starting to think "no hidden fees" is code for "we will try to charge you what we feel like whenever it suits us" on the net. If you buy a car that is blue and has lights, and it is delivered to your house you can sue them if it is green and has no lights in small claims court. Yet on the net, they know it is very hard to do this, and it makes customer realities ugly fast. I hope this gets to someone thinking "Hey maybe I will give Google linking to my email and page a try..." it does n-o-t help you get a better page at all! They do evil things to your bank account with a smile on their face.

Another web service to never try, 1 and 1. They say it is a a nine dollar personal page all fees paid, it is NOT a nine dollar page at all! More like ten a month! They say pre-format templates make it easy to use. Pre-format means will barely let you customise at all, and making custom anything will be a nightmare to use. It is the same pre-formatting GoDaddy sells for 3 dollars total, but they do it better. Godaddy is ten dollars total, not ten per month. Then 1 and 1 has "upgrades" for a "webstore" that are circus freak huge in price, GoDaddy is four a month. 1 and 1 are constantly trying to add that onto your card for twenty dollars a month. Not doing it! Had to stop the payments on 1 and 1.

Every hobby site says you need a page to promote your art. The problem is that there are many con-artists on the web pretending to have good services at nice prices. It is not until you use them that the real story comes true.

So now I have switched to GoDaddy, and it sucks far less. I will report on that soon, they may go strange at the one month mark like many I have tried. More people say GoDaddy does not suck, we shall see.
