Free money for steps at Walgreens.
Jul. 5th, 2013 03:25 pmThere are many Gamer groups on Sparkpeople and Fitbit. I am on Sparkpeople with the ID PoeDaughter7. I am not surprised, points for fitness with tech gadgets does lend itself greatly to people who play games, and video games. Points, collecting points, trivia games, fitness "guild" teams, and competing for points uses game theory to make you do something other than sit in front of a blinking screen.
Yet the gamers were even more helpful this week with this:
"Community / ! ! Gamers / Forum I just found out that if you log into the walgreens website you can link your fitbit account to your walgreens ballance rewards card and they will give you reward points for your steps and whenever you log things on Fitbit. I linked my account like 3 or 4 days ago and so far they have given me 920 reward points for my fitbit activity. After every 5,000 reward points you get $5 to spend in the store." - Gamers forum.
I logged in and they do indeed give money for 10,000 steps a day. It auto-logs your step count with Fitbit, so you do not have to type so long. Just log in once a week to transfer the points over. Also you can self log the points with your own step counter with other brands, so that is a help. They will give you free money bonuses for it! Well, the money is five bucks, and you are in the store to spend it. You will be likely to buy far more merchandise in the future if they have gotten you to spend the free five bucks. But heck, you have to shop somewhere, may as well be where they give you free stuff. I can see how step-counters are a good group to want for advertising. They can stick to a plan, they like buying health supplies, vitamins, and fitness tools. It is a potentially obsessive and loyal demographic.
