Odd that I say I have not time to write.

It is odd that I say I have no time to write... Yet can blog all over the Internet. I am changing that this month!

I have begun writing again. This joke shows how many people have pondered the irony of the "non-writers" in the modern

age. I came to the realization that even if online self publishing is sneered down upon in the writing community it

still has its place. If I died in a car wreck this week, how would people remember me? As an award winning poet, and

novelist? Or a lady who sat around watching TV and hanging out with friends all the time? It is a strange modern truth

with all the great new online publishing support, people still publish as few books as they do. Yet it is an

intimidating task to say the very least. There are SO MANY great writers out there, how to you make something worthy of

"book" status that can compete with that work. Also, how do you pick a style of art? Will it destroy your credibility

in teaching and science circles later in life when you try to publish teaching work,if your name is splashed across a

great deal of jolly fantasy novels when your co workers look for you online? Many teachers have been laughed out of job

interviews and board rooms for that sort of thing. Carl Sagan never heard the end of it when he wrote the novel

Contact. He lost many jobs in teaching. Yet to many it is still worth the risk.

Amazon has made Createspace even more user friendly. Bookpatch online is one of my top favorites because it lets you

keep more profit compared to Createspace. That is a risk with online publishing, many of the companies that promote

also eat a huge chunk of the profits. Yet people who can blog and tweet are pretty much doing the same thing as writing

a book. It is strange how few people truly make the jump to paperback publishing.

I have no illusion that this will at all be profitable. There are indeed a GREAT MANY writers out there, and most

barely make 50 dollars a year. Few and far between are the Stephen King and Agatha Christie writers who have massive

cash advances. Yet, not all the rewards in the world are just monetary. Sometimes, the greatest rewards in life come

from the things that are free.
