Post 24 Winter Sage and Trees by Road photo of the day.
This photo is called “Winter Sage and Trees by Road”. Buds fight to bloom on this winter tree headed for spring. Sage shrubs sit below the tree. It is framed by the road behind the tree.

Post 21 Country Road to the Lake 1 photo of the day.
This photo is called “Country Road to the Lake”. What is it about beaches at Lakes and Oceans that makes any photo pretty? I don’t know, but I have noticed that it is almost always true. Something in the human brain just responds to the idea of going to a nice bit of water for the day. This bit of country fence framed nicely a bit of unspoiled lake area.

Post 17 Shadow Self Portrait at Sunset photo of the day.

This photo is called “Shadow Self Portrait at Sunset”. Sometimes this year I have to cut back on walks due to bad stomach, foot, and back pain. I am in an injury lawsuit at the present moment. Yet I didn’t have to use my cane so much on a day where the weather was really nice this week. I could therefor take some nature blog photos. It had been icy for weeks in Texas, and so it was very nice to get out a bit, and enjoy the sun. The dogs agreed, and were whimpering to go for a walk. I found a nice place near the lake to walk them on nature trails. They bounced with glee to be out for an extra walk. I started to take photos for my blog of trees, rocks, and the lake. Then had the happy accident when taking nature photos of taking a bit of a self portrait in shadows at sunset. The first shadow portrait was sort of good looking, but only contained my feet. Then I got the dogs to run next to me and take a full shadow self portrait. Oddly, they understood what I was doing with the camera, and kept trying to jump into the photos on purpose. It turned out better compared to many of my more “planned” photos in this lake set.

Post 15 Sun Set Cactus Backlit photo of the day.

Photo here http://fhseven.com/ - Wordpress

This photo is called “Sun Set Cactus Backlit”. This is taken by the lake park near my mom’s house. The area I live in is Texas near Austin, and so even the lake area have drought resistant cactus everywhere. The silhouetted light of the thorns in the dusk evening shadow really struck me as interesting in this image. A great deal of the things we pass by, and tune out of our attention are really interesting if we take a close look at them. This seemed to be a prime example. Cactus seems barren and desolate because it has to survive drought and harsh sun. Yet that also makes it an example of strength and survival under pressure.

Post 14 Black and White Single Tree photo of the day.

This photo is called “Black and White Single Tree”. This is an older nature photo that I am re-posting to contrast my more green plant photos. These are trees from the Walnut Creek area, and a single tree is dominant in the photo frame. Another photo I tend to use heavily in webpage backgrounds is called “Black and White Many Trees” so the singular tree is stressed here. The image was far brighter green compared to what the photo shows because it was filtered into a black and white image. A rather jolly spring image becomes bleak and high contrast when changed to black and white. As an older image I have used it before on many of my image pages on the web.

Post 13 Third Doorway to Catland photo of the day.

This photo is called “Third Doorway to Catland”. It is the third tunnel near to my house that goes to the tunnels favored by neighborhood cats. The sunlight on the grass at sunset really gives this one a nice glow. The direction I am trying to go in with these nature photos is to do a comparison contrast collection of beautiful nature in bloom moments, contrasting with graveyards, headstones, and death art. It will be a sort of comparison/contrast photo essay. However, there are far more nature parks near my house. So the volume of “nature photos” will be far in excess to the “spooky grave” photos for the first section. I live by the lake, so I am sure graves would be washed away in floods if they placed many of them nearby. I used to live in New Orleans for many years, and they have elaborate decorations in compensation for the problems watery ground causes on many types of graves. Yet Texas has more above ground options, and so they stick to the traditional grave routes. Yet Texas graves have a rich look and tradition all their own.

Post 12 Rocky The Dog on Sunset Walk photo of the day.
This photo is called “Rocky The Dog on Sunset Walk”. That is pretty much the subject of the photo, the last pet of my household animal roll call is Rocky the Dog. He is very nice and has a sweet and passive temperament. He is a bit larger, and a darker color black compared to my other Chihuahua mix pet dog named Coco. They are a male and female dog pair that get along well. Yet I had to sneak the photo, he is a bit camera shy. This photo was taken with one of my cheaper cameras. Yet there is a joy to the more low-range cameras. It is that you actually use them more often. I know plenty of people with ultra expensive cameras in their closet that are gathering dust. Problem is that they so fear damaging the ultra expensive parts, and can’t afford to replace the ultra expensive batteries that they never use the thing. A more mid-range camera has the practicality that it is cheap to use, cheap to power, and cheap to repair and replace. So you are not afraid to actually take it with you on daily walks on rough terrain or even in the rain.
